One night when Rose was sleeping, the Doctor came into the console room by himself. He pushed a series of buttons and a little red light came on beside a tiny camera lens on the TARDIS control panel. And the Doctor stared at that camera lens and said these words all by himself, thinking about the pink and yellow girl who was sleeping in his TARDIS, her room not-so-far away. Thinking that he would die for her. Thinking that there was a strong possibility he’d have to at some point. And he was planning for it, planning to keep her safe even if he wasn’t alive to protect her anymore. Knowing that this regeneration of himself was born in battle, and content with the prospect of leaving in the same. Wanting, more than anything else, for her to be happy.

This ship makes every one of my internal organs ache. And I love it. I love them.
